Position Description:

San Diego State University Rehabilitation Counseling program (RCP) seeks to hire a tenure-track faculty member (Assistant or Associate Professor rank) with expertise in counselor licensure and psychiatric rehabilitation. Applicants must have an earned doctorate in Rehabilitation Counselor/Counselor Education, or a closely-related field which meets Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP) requirements for core faculty (or which meets grandfather provisions for existing rehabilitation counseling faculty or recent graduates: http://www.cacrep.org/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/FAQs-on-doctoral-level-Rehabilitation-Counselor-Education-accreditation-10.22.15.pdf

The successful candidate will possess strong research interest and capability as evidenced by an appropriate history of or potential for research and publication in top-tier refereed journals. Teaching experience at the graduate levels is preferred, as well as demonstrated capacity to direct the RCP’s Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) Concentration. Salary and benefits are competitive and are commensurate with experience and academic preparation. Application review will begin September 2018, and the position will remain open until it is filled.

The RCP has dynamic educational programs, uses creative and innovative teaching methods, and offers research opportunities and support in acquiring funding. The RCP offers on-campus and distance-based options. Additionally, RCP students can pursue the LPCC Concentration as well as certificate programs in Cognitive Disabilities, Psychiatric Rehabilitation, Rehabilitation Technology, Rehabilitation Counseling (i.e., Category R), and Supported Employment and Transition.
