Southern University is in Baton Rouge, the Capital City of Louisiana with a population of more than 500,000 Baton Rouge serves as a cultural, political, educational, and industrial center for South Louisiana.
The Baton Rouge campus is located on Scott’s Bluff overlooking the Mississippi River in the northern section of the city of Baton Rouge. The campus encompasses 512 acres of beautiful moss-covered oaks, with an agricultural experimental station on an additional 312-acre site, located 5 miles north of the main campus. The campus boasts a warm, student-friendly environment supported by faculty and staff committed to assisting students on their paths to success.
The Department of Rehabilitation and Disability Studies offers an undergraduate degree in Rehabilitation Services and a graduate degree in Rehabilitation Counseling (both on campus and online). The graduate program offers a 48 hour CORE accredited curriculum with specialization in Assistive Technology (AT) and Vocational Evaluation and Work Adjustment (VEWA); and a 60 hour curriculum with specialization in Psychiatric Rehabilitation (PR). The program is applying for CACREP accreditation for Clinical Rehabilitation Counseling.
Currently, the department has three Long Term Training Grants and one VR Technical Assistant Center for Targeted Communities (VRTAC-TC) grant from the Rehabilitation Services Administration (RSA), U.S. Department of Education; and two Field Initiated Research Projects from the National Institute on Disability and Independent Living Rehabilitation Research (NIDILRR), U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

Job Responsibilities: Teach mostly undergraduate courses and graduate course (on campus and online) as needed, supervise field experience students, supervise student research, advise students, write grant proposals, engage in scholarly activities (e.g., research, publications, and presentations), and serve on professional organizations.
* Ph.D. in Rehabilitation Counseling
* A CRC or an LPC
* Must have experience in providing vocational rehabilitation services to consumers with disabilities
* Experience in teaching on campus and online courses
* Expertise in Assistive Technology, Vocational Evaluation and Work Adjustment, or Psychiatric
* Proficiency in conducting research in rehabilitation and/or closely related disciplines.
